Issue with A4 documents recognized as letter on LaserJet M776

Hi, I have a strange issue with mainly PDF files. These are shown as A4 files but the M776 printer recognizes them as Letter format. As there is no letter format in any tray, the job just hangs there and blocks any other jobs. There is no way to tell the printer to us A4 instead. Even in the menu any setting to us Tray 2 with A4 for example is ignored. 

Is there any way to force the printer to ignore anything recognized as letter and us A4 instead? Thanks for any hint.

What happens if you on printer select printer paper tray 2 size Any size instead of A4  will then printer print from tray2 or hang? Paper source on a computer ( driver) is selected to specific tray or to auto and paper sizes for tray also set to A4/letter or auto?

Is this issue happening to one or more users ( computers)? 

Did it work before or this is a new issue? The pdf is 100% A4 in size?

Not sure about that exact model, HP have the option to override the A4/ letter in the printer menu under paper handling.

I selected to ignore A4/letter - no change

I selected to not ignore A4/letter - no change

I selected by default use Tray 2 (which has loaded A4) - no change

I selected paper source on computer as A4 - no change

The PDF shows as size A4 and 210mm x 297mm

The error has been all time there - we factory reset the printer - no change

All users experience this

On a M557 printer the same PDF prints without issue - same settings as on the M776

It is a bit of a mystery.

Is this issue only when printing pdf?  There is a USB port on the right side of the control panel save a pdf that hangs on a USB drive plug it in the USB port and try to print it directly without a computer to see will it print or hang.

Can you make changes on one computer to install HP universal print driver to see will that help?
