Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Apologies for the delay in getting back, and thank you to those who replied with suggested fixes (see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Paper-Jams-Feed-Issues/LaserJet-4350-jam/m-p/7996839)

I removed and examined the Tray 2 solenoid.  No issues with it (had put a buffer(tape) in when I removed the pad first time around), and there was no sticking.  Replaced it anyway.  Did not fix the problem.

So, still have periodic jams when printer picks up extra sheets from Tray 2 and ejects the extra sheet(s) only part-way out the exit rollers.

A couple of things to check or try:

1. The paper sensor in th printer cavity under the registration assembly (lift metal plate with green handle on right side) can get dirty or simply fail. Try using compressed air to clean that area as the optical sensor can become blocked with paper dust.

2. Make sure that the output bin flags are not sticking. Just like the solenoid, they use sticky backed foam that breaks down over time causing the exit flag to stay shut causing a paper jam. If you have a copy of the service manual, read on how to do a sensor test and make sure that all sensoirs are working.
