I have the HP LaserJet and when I print Avery labels they start off printing Perfect but by the last row on the page they are misaligned. Is that a roller issue and how can I fix it?

Hi @Stix12

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing that, and I’m truly sorry your HP LaserJet is misaligning Avery labels near the bottom of the page—it’s frustrating when precision fades just when you need it most.

This issue is often caused by subtle paper feed inconsistencies, especially with thicker or specialty media like label sheets.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore crisp alignment from top to bottom:

🛠 Step-by-Step Fix for Label Misalignment

Use the Correct Media Type Setting

  • In your print dialog, set the paper type to Labels or Heavyweight.
  • This adjusts the feed speed and fuser temperature for better grip and alignment.

Load Labels Properly

  • Place the label sheets in the tray with the printable side facing up (or down, depending on your model).
  • Fan the stack gently to prevent sticking.
  • Avoid overloading—use 10–15 sheets at a time for best results.

Check and Clean the Rollers

  • Dust or wear on feed rollers can cause gradual slippage.
  • Open the input tray and rear access panel.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  • Let them dry completely before printing.

Use Avery Templates

Print from PDF

  • Export your label design to PDF and print from Adobe Acrobat.
  • In the print dialog, disable Fit to Page and select Actual Size to preserve layout.

Avoid High Humidity

  • Labels can curl or shift slightly in humid environments.
  • Store sheets flat in a cool, dry place before use.

Run HP Print Alignment Tool

  • Some LaserJet models offer a built-in alignment calibration:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Print Quality Tools > Align Printer.

Let’s get your labels printing sharp and steady from top to bottom.
