My Envy printer says I have a paper jam and there isn't one. I only received the printer on September 23, 2005. Can someone please come and fix it or should I return the computer. If so what is the address.

Hi @Gerry326,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy printer shows a “Paper Jam” error even though there’s no jam visible. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and get your printer working again.

1. Power Reset the Printer

Make sure the printer is ON.

Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.

Wait for 60 seconds.

Plug the cord back directly into the wall outlet (not a surge protector) and then into the printer.

Turn the printer back on.

This often clears false paper jam errors.

2. Check All Paper Paths

Remove all paper from the input tray.

Pull out the output tray and any rear access door or duplexer if your model has one.

Use a flashlight to check for:

Tiny bits of torn paper

Staples, tape, or debris inside the rollers or feed area

Remove any obstruction carefully with both hands to avoid tearing it.

3. Inspect the Carriage Area

Open the main access door to reach the ink cartridges.

If the carriage is stuck, gently move it to the center (with the power off).

Check for:

Bits of paper around or under the carriage

Any packaging material left behind from setup

Close the access door securely once clear.

4. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Turn the printer off and unplug it.

Dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled water.

Gently wipe the rollers you can reach in the input tray and rear access area.

Let them dry completely for at least 10 minutes before reconnecting power.

5. Reload Paper Properly

Use fresh, clean sheets of plain white paper (not curled or wrinkled).

Fan the stack lightly to prevent sheets from sticking together.

Insert the paper all the way in and adjust the width guides snugly, but not too tight.

6. Check for Firmware or Software Issues

Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed (via the printer’s touchscreen or HP Smart on your computer).

Ensure the printer is set as the default printer on your PC.

Restart both your computer and the printer after making changes.

I hope this helps.
