My printer will not sense that there is paper in the photo tray. Load paper error message.

I am printing 4x6 photos using HP photo paper in the photo tray on an HP Envy Photo 7855.  I have been doing this for a long time without problems.  Now the printer will not sense that there is photo paper in the photo tray and continues giving me the message to load paper in the tray even when there is plenty there.  I have tried different quantities of paper in the tray from just a few to the full stack.  I have checked for blockages on the inside and it is clear.  Please give me an idea of what to check.  I have a large project that will require a lot of printing of this sort.  I am using the HP Smart photo app on my computer to edit the pictures for size and clarity.  So far it has worked well...until now.  Thank you in advance for your help!  I have to continue this project and need help as soon as possible.

If you have not done so,

Try shutting off the printer with the power button on the printer - wait a bit - Switch on the printer.

Check that the printer is aware of the Paper Size & Type - Tray and Paper

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Tray and Paper – Paper Size / Paper Type / Paper Weight

Reminder

HP Smart Mobile requires that paper size / type is adjusted before the content is opened to be printed.

Paper Size, Type, and Weight loaded in the printer tray must be supported for use in that tray.

EWS provides access and control to check / adjust Tray and Paper Settings.

Note

Depending on the printer model, the Printer Control Panel might provide access to Paper Size / Type settings immediately after the paper is (re)loaded into the appropriate printer intake tray.

HP Smart - Windows - Current Version = 148.2.1069.0

Check / Update  >> Every device (computer(s) and / or mobile) where HP Smart is installed should be running the latest version of the HP Smart application available for that device platform (Operating System / Version).

It's possible that the printer needs  cleaning and / or a "Restart"

Not likely missed - might be worth a check...

Make sure the Paper Size / Type is a matched set in the print job configuration.

What?

Paper Size and Paper Type must be matched in to the source in the printer tray (EWS).

Paper Size and Paper Type must also be selected in the software AND be a matched set to the paper.

For example

Paper Size 4x6 in  is not the same size selection as Paper size Index Card 4x6 in

I appreciate your help and suggestions.  I am an old person and not a techie!  I will try what you suggested but not sure I am proficient enough to know what I'm doing.  The sample screen for picking the settings for the print page are not the same as my screen.  I have been doing this project for weeks now and have chosen the same settings each time for each picture.  I am thinking that maybe your cleaning suggestion may be the answer.  I will look at your reply again to see how to do that.  Also I may have to update the HP Smart system but how do I do that?  Remember you are working with a newbie!  I will try the EWS suggestion also.  I will get back to you if things don't work out.  Yes, I shut down the printer and computer for several hours to see if they would reset.  As soon as the printer came back on, it attempted to print again, clicking away, but gave me the "Load Paper" error again.
