The printer does not pick paper when printing, the Edge lighting glows amber, and the paper tray light blinks on the right. A 'Load Paper in Tray' or 'Out of Paper' message might also display.
Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.
Check the paper then reload it:
- Check the paper stack for defects such as wrinkles, tears, or bends that might cause a pick-up issue.
- Remove any paper from the paper tray.
- Remove any bent, wrinkled, or torn sheets found in the stack.
- Check for obstructions inside the paper tray that can prevent the rollers from feeding the paper.
- Make sure the paper stack is even on all sides, and then load the stack into the paper tray.
- Slide in the paper width guides until they rest against the stack, and then push the paper tray in to close it.
- Select the paper type and size you are using on the printer control panel or in the app you are printing from.
Clean the rollers inside the ink cartridge access area:
- Clean the paper rollers in the cartridge access area.
- Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord.
- WARNING: To avoid risk of injuries or electric shock, you must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.
Push in the output tray. - Lift the cartridge access lid until it locks into place.

Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled or filtered water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth. - Gently clean the rollers with the cloth, rotating the rollers with your fingers to clean the entire surface.
- Location of the paper rollers inside the printer
Allow the rollers to dry for 10 minutes. - Remove the paper path cover by pinching the tabs together and lifting it out of the printer.

Allow the rollers to dry for 10 minutes. - Reinsert the paper path cover by pinching the tabs together, sliding it into position and then pressing it down until it snaps into place.
- Close the cartridge access lid.
- Reconnect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.
Clean the roller underneath the printer
- Clean the roller on the bottom of the printer.
- Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord.
- WARNING: To avoid risk of injuries or electric shock, you must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.
Pull out the input tray and remove any paper. - Holding the top of the printer with one hand, turn the printer on its side to access the roller underneath the printer.
- Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled or filtered water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
- Location of the paper roller underneath the printer
Gently clean the roller with the damp cloth, rotating it with your fingers to clean the entire surface. - Allow the roller to dry for 10 minutes.
- Close the input tray.
- Return the printer to its normal position.
- Reconnect the power cord, turn on the printer, and then load paper.
Reset the printer:
- Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
- If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
- Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
