HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I was horrified to discover that the 11x17 tray does not close.  Please tell me that I am misunderstanding something, missing a part or can buy a modified paper tray so that it doesn't look like it should be pushed back into the printer.  If I had known this (and I researched the various products) I may not have purchased this unit.

How do we insert the 11x17 tray completely into the printer?  I just find it hard to believe that an 11x17 printer was designed this way.  More importantly should there not have been some indication that this was the case so that a consumer can make an informed decision?

That is designed that way, when printing on large media the paper tray sticks out of the printer.
