Just started seeing this error. Paper seems fine, guides seem fine, etc. I've opened up the tray, cleaned every part (they were all very clean anyway), looked for loose or incorrect placement of anything on printer side where it engages the tray -- can't figure out what is going on. Of course this started about 1 month after my printer's warranty expired.
Any help would be much appreciated! I've seen a few others with similar issues, but there haven't been posts discussing what actually resolved their problems.

Additional note: when I reseat the tray (with paper in it) and close it, while the printer says "Initializing...", I hear and see rollers running and a soft "clicking" noise. I assume some of this is attributable to either testing the paper path or trying to load paper, but it fails. It's after ~10s of this that the printer then displays the "paper guide" error.

the pickup roller could be worn or dirty and is slipping on the paper and causing mis-feeding. You can clean the roller damp lint free cloth, look in the paper tray cavity for the greyish or black roller rear center of the top of the paper tray slot.

I saw on another post somewhere that (I think) you gave some users a guide to fully "reset" their printer in a private message. Do you have any instructions on that for me? It's worth a try.
FYI here is the event log I see when I access the printer's web server. It seems the issue is an "unexpected paper size", but I assure you the loaded paper is 8.5 x 11 (letter). Something is "tricking" the printer and I can't tell what - nothing looks off hardware-wise.
