Hi @Reflections2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you encounter an 'Out Of Paper' error on your HP printer even though you have paper in the default tray, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check the Paper Size and Type Settings: Make sure the paper size and type settings on your printer match the paper loaded in the tray. Incorrect settings can cause the printer to think it is out of paper.

Inspect the Paper Tray:

  • Confirm that the stack of paper in the tray is not below the minimum fill line.

  • Ensure paper is not creased, curled, or stuck together. Fan the stack of paper to prevent multiple sheets from sticking together.

Load the Paper Correctly:

  • Remove the paper stack from the tray and then reload it, ensuring that it is pushed all the way into the tray.

  • Adjust the paper-width and paper-length guides so they hold the paper stack in place without squeezing it.

Clean the Printer Rollers: Dust or paper debris on the rollers can cause issues in picking up paper. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled or bottled water. Refer to your printer’s manual for guidance on locating and cleaning the rollers.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  • Wait 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer from the HP Official HP® Support and update it if necessary. Sometimes an update can resolve paper detection issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
