HP Ink Tank Wireless 416
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since I purchased this printer, I’ve been experiencing this problem, sporadically at first, but now permanently.

The driver is up-to-date to the latest version, and running on Windows 10, which is properly updated as well. Firmware is KEP1FN2113AR em HP Smart says it’s also up-to-date,

The problem is that when I try to print, the sheet is fed to a certain point and then doesn't advance, but printing process occurs, even though the paper isn't advanced as it should.

Sometimes I get an Error 4 or 2, but mostly, it doesn't even display an error, and the printer behaves as if it had printed correctly.

When I remove the paper that didn't advance fully and put it back in the tray, the second attempt prints normally.

At first, you might think it's a hardware issue, or dirt, or something like that, but it isn't, as it's simply systematic and only occurs when I turn on the printer and only on the first print.

After this issue with the paper feeding, if I don't turn off the printer, any type of printing goes through perfectly. If I turn the printer off and on again, the problem is right there.

Running the diagnostics, no errors are found.

@Leo-Santis, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Paper Feed Issues on Your HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issue you're experiencing, where the paper fails to advance while the printer continues to attempt printing, is often related to a paper feed or alignment problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure that the paper is properly aligned with the printer's input tray. The edges of the paper should be touching the paper edge guides firmly but not so tight that they bend the paper.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and check for any debris, pieces of paper, or objects that may be obstructing the paper path. Remove any obstructions found.

Clean the Rollers:

  • The printer's rollers may need cleaning. Over time, they can collect dust and debris, which affects their ability to grip and feed paper properly.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the rollers. Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged while cleaning.

Paper Quality:

  • Ensure you are using paper that is within the printer's specifications. Check for any defects in the paper, as curled or bent papers can cause feeding issues.

Printer Reset:

  • Sometimes, simply resetting the printer can resolve minor glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, plug it back in, and turn it on again.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @zoey7886

Thanks for your reply.

Like I mentioned, this issue only happens when turn the printer on and during the first printing. All printings later on are perfect, as soon as I keep printer on. If turned off and on, first printing issue happens again.

Anyway, before posting here I1ve tried all of your tips:

Papers are perfect aligned and I use a paper brand marked with HP recommend.

Already openned the printer and it's perfectly clean and rollers are also perfec.

Also performed factory reset and nothing changed.
