HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have a similar issue as other community members: my printer is claiming a paper jam when there is no such jam. I have also cleaned the rollers and reset the printer, to no avail. However, if I COPY a document first, it prints that document perfectly fine, and it will then print a document from my computer successfully.

Given these strange circumstances, this surely is not a sensor error, as one response I saw suggested. Can you help?

Thanks!

@agoldste, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer has a false paper jam error. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Let us try these steps:

Go to Setup > Tools > Restore to factory defaults.

Now, re-setup the printer and check if this helps.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Paper Jam Error

Update the printer firmware
