Phantom paper jam. I have carefully cleared all paper debris, cleaned the printer rollers and tried to reset the printer ... but to no avail. Now I get the message "To avoid damage, use the On button to shut down ..." When I press OK, I get the Paper Jam error message. I cannot clear the error message by pressing OK on the printer screen and/or the X next to the screen. Additionally, the printhead mechanism no longer moves, although I hear the appropriate sounds when I first turn on the printer. Opening the cartridge door also does not move the printhead mechansim to the left for me to remove the cartridges.
Someone PLEASE HELP ME! I've been working on this for two days now; I'm frustrated. Thanks in advance.

I faced this issue right after the last MIcrosoft update, and the HP printer message appears when I turn on the HP Officejet 8600 Pro printer. Since then, I have tried to (1) reset the printer, (2) uninstall the printer, and (3) reinstall the printer using the HP software update pack (Full_Webpack-1312_1-OJ8600_Full_Webpack). None of this has worked.

In that case, you might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.
