HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I can't fix a paper jam because I can't lift the lid to access the area of the jam. None of the online help offers a solution, and I can't find any way to get help from an actual person at HP itself. I HAVE TO GET THIS FIXED QUICKLY!!~!!

Hi @bodo121,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand the urgency, especially when you need the printer working quickly. Thank you for explaining that the problem is not simply removing the paper, but that you cannot lift the lid/access the area where the jam is located.

For the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e, please do not force the scanner assembly or lid open, as this could cause damage.

Please try the following recommended checks:

  1. Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  2. Remove any paper from the input tray
  3. Open the cartridge access door and check the visible paper path for any jammed or torn pieces of paper. If you can safely reach the paper, gently remove it with both hands.
  4. Check the rear of the printer and the rear paper path/duplexer area for any jammed paper or torn pieces. Remove the rear access component if it can be removed normally and check for obstructions.
  5. Make sure there are no small pieces of paper or other foreign objects remaining in the paper path.
  6. Reconnect the printer directly to a wall outlet, turn it on, and check whether the paper-jam message has cleared.

These steps are based on HP's troubleshooting procedure for the OfficeJet Pro 9010/9020 series, which includes the 9015e. HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9020 printers - Paper Jam error | HP® Support

Please do not force the lid open. If you can actually see the paper but cannot reach or remove it, please upload a clear photo of the printer showing where the paper is stuck. That will allow us to see exactly which area you are dealing with and determine the safest next step.

If the paper has been completely removed but the printer continues to report a paper jam, let us know as well, since we may then need to check whether something is still obstructing the paper path or whether the printer is continuing to detect a jam.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Thanks for the Reply Vikram. My wife fixed it. While I appreciate your reply It didn't seem to really address the issue I was having. I know how to  clear paper jams. As you acknowledged in your reply my issue was in trying to open the top of the printer to get at the jam.  Your reply does make sense if the steps you provided were aimed at clearing the jam without opening it up, but I didn't understand  that if that was indeed your intent.

The printer is in a cabinet. It was pushed so far back in it that the cover didn't have room to open because of "hinge geometry".  The back of the cabinet prevented it from hinging up. She pulled it out a couple of inches and it opened right up.  Yeah, she's smarter than me.  Anyway, thanks for your reply.
