Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Envy 6022 and when I try to print   a stack of 35 sheets  after printing one sheet the rest in the paper tray  slip backwards and  the printing gets cut off at the top.  Any suggestions for a cure are welcome.  The stack of paper was well retained at the sides but there is nothing at the top end to keep it in place

Looking at the user guide http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06584210.pdf

It appears to me that when you slide the tray in , it becomes the backstop to prevent paper movement. Are you trying to use a media size that is too short and not supported by the printer?

No sorry I did not explain myself very well.  It is A4 paper and it is not the backstop end that is the problem the paper slides towards the other end (in other words towards me).  It is time consuming having to do one page at a time when completing a long run.  I stack the paper carefully so I don' think that is the problem,  it is a newish printer and I have never had any similar problems with the previous 25 years worth of HP printers.

That is odd, especially for A4 size paper, normally in a device like this the tray would slide in far enough to push against the stack of paper and keep it in place. Just for clarity, when I refer to backstop that is the retainer that snugs up against the paper stack and keeps paper feeding. It does seem unusual that HP does not have a separate backstop in the tray, especially for shorter media.

Thank you for your comment.  I put a stack of A4 paper in the tray pushing as far as it will go.  I then adjust the side guides so they are snug against the stack.  There is nothing else to adjust.  I then push the tray in and away I go but after the first or second sheet it is misprinting although printing singly is no bother.  This is a 4 month old printer and I have cleaned the printer rollers, replaced the cartridges and just about kicked it into touch!  It has been the worst possible printer by HP that I have ever had as there have been so many problems that have been unsolved.  If it hadn't been for lockdown it would have been returned.
