Hi

The printer is showing up as paper jam there's no paper anywhere in the printer and when it tries to clear it there's a grinding noise

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I understand the printer makes a grinding noise. Let us try these steps:

 

Check for any paper jams or broken/foreign objects inside the printer. Refer to the steps mentioned in this document - Paper Jam Error

Also, make sure the print carriage is moving freely.

 

Reset the printer

 

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

None of those solved the issue

Its still saying paper jam and grinds when it tries to clear itself
