Printer says there is a jam in output tray. No evidence of paper in output nor in the input. I’ve turned off the printer and rebooted several times but not able to clear the message. Looking for suggestions?

Print a cleaning page to clean the paper feed and pick rollers
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the paper feed and pick rollers and cause paper jams and paper feed issues. Printing a cleaning page can clean the main paper feed and pick rollers without having to clean them manually. Clean the rollers inside the printer, and then try to print a test page.
- From the printer control panel, press the Setup button.
- Press the arrow buttons to select Service, and then press OK.
- Press the arrow buttons to select Cleaning Page, and then press OK.
- Load plain, white paper when you are prompted.
- Press the OK button to begin the cleaning process.
Clear the jam sensor
- The printer has jam sensors to detect paper in the path, and sometimes these sensors can get dirty or malfunction.
- Clean the paper path sensors carefully with a dry, soft cloth. These sensors are usually located along the paper path near the rollers.
Reset the printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 1 minute before plugging it back in and turning it on. This will allow the printer to reset its internal systems.
Perform a reset
Sometimes resetting the printer to its default settings can help clear out any lingering error codes.
- On the printer’s control panel, press the Home button.
- Navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults (this will vary depending on your printer's menu, so refer to the manual if needed).

Perform a firmware update
Outdated firmware might cause errors, including false paper jam messages. You can check for a firmware update by:
- Going to HP’s website and searching for firmware updates for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw.
- Download and follow the instructions to update the firmware if needed.
Reinstall the printer drivers
- Sometimes, the issue could be related to corrupted printer drivers. Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer and reinstall the latest version from HP’s official website.
All clear! Your printer's ready to roll again. If the paper jams try to make a comeback, you know where to find me. 💪
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
