I just solved the paper tray problem of paper tray being  locked on the 8 x14" setting. I took the tray out, turned it upside down, there is a little button (1/2" by 1/4"),  pull the gray button to unlock by the 8  x 14 slide then push the little gray button in and it releases the tray to slide forward to make the tray hold regular sized  paper in place. Looking at it from the top side there is a hole on the right side on tray. Better directions should be printed to explain the  situation.

Hi @Donuss1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you successfully resolved the issue with the paper tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8015e printer by unlocking it to accommodate regular-sized paper. For anyone facing a similar issue, here are detailed instructions based on your experience:

Adjusting the Paper Tray on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8015e

**1. Remove the Paper Tray:

  • Eject the Tray: Pull out the paper tray from the printer carefully.

**2. Locate the Locking Mechanism:

  • Flip the Tray: Turn the paper tray upside down to access the locking mechanism.
  • Find the Gray Button: Locate the small gray button on the underside of the tray. It is approximately 1/2" by 1/4".

**3. Unlock the Tray:

  • Unlock: Pull the gray button to release the paper tray from the 8" x 14" (legal) paper setting.
  • Slide Forward: Once the gray button is pulled, you should be able to slide the tray forward to adjust it for standard paper sizes.

**4. Adjust for Regular Paper Sizes:

  • Set the Tray: Push the gray button in and slide the tray forward to the position that holds regular-sized paper (typically 8.5" x 11" or A4).
  • Check Alignment: Ensure that the paper guides in the tray are adjusted to fit the width of the paper.

**5. Reinsert the Paper Tray:

  • Insert the Tray: Carefully slide the adjusted paper tray back into the printer.
  • Ensure Proper Fit: Make sure the tray is fully inserted and aligned correctly with the printer.

**6. Load Paper:

  • Add Paper: Load the appropriate size paper into the tray.
  • Adjust Guides: Adjust the paper guides to fit snugly against the paper.

**7. Check Printer Settings:

  • Update Settings: Ensure that the printer settings match the paper size you’ve loaded in the tray.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
