Hi @anthonycomfort,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer is displaying an error message that says "no paper" when the tray is actually full. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Paper Alignment: Ensure that the paper in the tray is aligned properly. Sometimes paper can be skewed or not seated correctly, causing the sensor to indicate no paper.

Adjust Paper Guides: Ensure the paper guides are snug against the paper stack. Misaligned guides can lead to feeding issues.

Inspect the Paper Tray: Make sure the paper tray is inserted fully into the printer and that it is not damaged. Any deformation may prevent the paper sensor from functioning correctly.

Clean Paper Feed Rollers: Dust and debris on paper feed rollers can prevent paper from being fed correctly. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with water to clean the rollers.

Check the Sensor: If possible, carefully inspect the paper sensor inside the tray or feeding area to ensure it is not stuck or obstructed.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes a firmware update can resolve sensor issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before reconnecting and turning it on.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
