My width guide popped out as I was clearing a paper jam. This is a repeat but happened a while back and I don't remember.
How do I put the width guide (you change it to hold paper so it prints straight) in? Just looking at proper postilion doesn't help since there are several connections so it will work properly. Of course it is out of warranty so that isn't an option.
If anyone can tell me how far down it goes and which side is the top/bottom.. If anyone knows where the sliding opening goes so it will move that would help too.
Thanks for any help

Hi @Zanna369 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that you're having trouble with the paper width guide on your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer. I can offer guidance that might help you reattach the paper width guide.
Identify Top and Bottom:
- Look for any markings or symbols on the width guide that indicate which side should be the top and bottom.
- Often, there might be an arrow or label indicating the proper orientation.
Locate the Guide Channels:
- Examine the sides of the printer where the width guide should be inserted.
- Check for guide channels or grooves where the width guide fits.
Align and Insert:
- Align the width guide with the guide channels on both sides.
- Gently slide the width guide into the channels until it clicks into place.
- Ensure that it moves freely without any obstructions.
Test Movement:
- Move the width guide along the channels to make sure it can slide smoothly.
- Check if there's any locking mechanism that needs to be engaged for stability.
Check Printer Manual:
- Refer to your printer manual or documentation. There should be a section on paper handling or maintenance that provides guidance on reattaching the width guide.
- If you don't have the manual, you can usually find it on the HP support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
