Officejet 6950
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,
I have a problem with my HP Officejet 6950 printer all of a sudden I get errors and a non-existent paper jam message.

I had printing problems the color was not printed correctly so I have started 3-4 times a cleaning via the printer menu.
After that I could not print anything. Now I get this error message 0x6100004a and afterwards the message that there is a paper jam.
In addition, the printer box with the cartridges no longer moves. It is stuck on the right side.

I have already done a driver update and completely reset the printer, but the problems are still there.
It doesn't seem to be a software problem but a hardware problem.

Is there any way to solve the problem?

Hi@tomibi,Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Request you to follow the below troubleshooting

Step 1: Check the paper, and then reload it

Paper feed issues might result from using ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent paper. The quality of the paper can also make a difference. Use these guidelines to help avoid the issue.

  • Use only good quality paper that meets printer specifications.

  • Store all paper in a dry, cool place. Paper feed issues occur more often in humid environments.

  • Do not print on paper that is already printed. The dampness of the ink can cause the paper to stick together.

  • Wait for the printer to complete a job or for an Out of paper or Load Paper message to display before you reload the paper.

Make sure the paper you use to print is in good condition, is neatly stacked in the tray, and the paper path and tray are free from obstructions.

  1. Pull out the input tray.

  2. Remove any paper from the input tray.

  3. Remove any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn paper from the stack.

  4. Check for obstructions inside the input tray. Make sure nothing blocks the paper from engaging with the rollers. Even small pieces of paper can cause paper feed issues.

  5. With both hands, hold the stack of paper, and then tap the bottom edge of the stack on a flat surface so that the stack is even on all sides.

  6. Load the stack of paper into the input tray, and then push the stack into the tray until it stops.

    Figure : Loading paper

Loading a stack of paper into the input tray
  7. Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the bottom of the input tray. Do not load more than 250 sheets of paper or exceed the maximum stack height.

  8. Push the input tray forward until it snaps into place, and then lower the output tray.

  9. Slide in the paper-width and paper-length guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

Figure : Sliding in the paper-width and paper-length guides

  10. Insert the input tray into the printer.

Figure : Inserting the input tray

Inserting the input tray into the printer
  11. The printer control panel displays the paper size loaded.

    • If the paper size loaded does not match what is displayed, touch Modify, select your paper size and type, and then touch Done.

    • If the paper size is correct, touch OK.

Try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Clean the paper feed rollers from inside the ink cartridge access area.

Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the paper feed rollers and cause paper jams and paper feed issues. Clean the rollers inside the printer, and then try to print again.

Gather the following materials:

  • A lint-free cloth

  • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the printer)

  1. Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord and any other cables.

       WARNING:

You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer to avoid risk of injuries or electric shock.

  2. Lift up and push back the cartridge access door.

  3. Lightly dampen the swab with the water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the swab.

  4. Press the swab against the rollers inside the printer, and then rotate the rollers upwards with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

  5. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

  6. Close the ink cartridge access door.

  7. Reconnect the power cord and any other cables to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

Try to print. If the error persists, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Clean the rollers from inside the rear of the printer

Clean the rollers behind the ink cartridge access area of the printer.

  1. Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord and any other cables.

  2. Turn the printer so that the rear access door faces you.

  3. Press the two tabs inward to open the rear access door, and then remove any jammed paper.

  4. Press the two buttons on the paper path cover, and then pull the cover out of the printer.

  5. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  6. Press the cloth against the rollers, and then rotate them upward with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

  7. Repeat the cleaning steps on the paper path cover rollers.

  8. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

  9. Insert the paper path cover back into the printer.

  10. Close the rear access door.

  11. Reconnect the power cord and any other cables to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

Try to print. If the error persists, continue to the next step.

Step 4: Reset the printer

Sometimes an error persists even though there is no paper feed issue. Reset the printer, and then try to print.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

       NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try to print. If the error persists, continue to the next step.

Step 5: Service the printer

Service or replace your HP product if the issue persists after completing all the preceding steps.

Go to Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement. If you are in Asia Pacific, you will be directed to a local service center in your area.

To confirm your warranty status, go to HP Product Warranty Check. Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.

Printer does not pick up paper from the ADF

A Reload Original message displays on the printer control panel, and the ADF does not pick up paper.

View this video on YouTube.

   NOTE:

Make sure the paper stack loaded in the ADF input tray does not exceed 5mm (0.2 inches) in height. If the ADF picks single sheets but does not pick from stacks of paper, make sure you are loading the proper amount of paper.

Step 1: Check the paper pick roller position

If the paper pick roller is not positioned correctly, the printer does not sense the original when it is loaded.

  1. Remove any paper from the ADF.

  2. Touch OK to clear the error message, and then look at the paper pick roller:

    • If the paper pick roller is up (not visible), the roller is in the correct position. Reload the originals, and then try to scan or copy again.

Figure : Correct position of ADF paper pick roller

The correct position of the paper pick roller, when it is up and not visible
    • If the paper pick roller is down (visible), the roller is in the incorrect position.

Figure : Incorrect position of ADF paper pick roller

The incorrect position of the paper pick roller, when it is down and not visible
      1. Turn the printer off, and then on.

      2. Check the paper pick roller. It should be reset, and in the "up" position.

      3. Reload the original, pushing with moderate force until the paper stops. You should hear a sound, and an Original loaded message should display on the printer control panel.

      4. Try to scan or copy again.

If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Check the paper, and then reload it

Make sure the paper you scan or copy is in good condition, is neatly stacked in the tray, and the paper path and tray are free from obstructions.

   NOTE:

The edges of paper that has absorbed moisture might curl or lift the sheet so the paper does not feed into the ADF. Likewise, the ADF might not feed photo paper or other paper types with glossy surfaces. If you are unsure of the type of paper you should send through the ADF, use the flatbed scanner.

  1. Remove the paper from the ADF.

  2. Remove any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn paper from the stack.

Make sure there are no paper clips or staples in the paper.

  3. For testing purposes, obtain 10 sheets of new, plain white paper with a weight of 60 to 90 g/m2(16 to 24 lb bond).

  4. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.

  5. Load the stack of paper into the ADF input tray. Make sure the stack is inserted fully into the input tray and that the printer recognizes that paper has been loaded. When paper is properly loaded into the ADF, the printer should make a sound and display Original loaded on the printer control panel.

  6. Slide in the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

  7. Try to copy or scan using the ADF again.

    • If the ADF picked all the sheets in the stack of paper, reload your originals, and then try to copy or scan again.

    • If the ADF did not pick all sheets in the stack of paper, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad

Clean the paper feed rollers and separator pad in the ADF.

Gather the following materials:

  • A lint-free cloth

  • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the printer)

  1. Lift the cover of the ADF.

    Image: Lifting the ADF cover

  2. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  3. Press the cloth against the rollers, and then rotate them upward with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

    1. Rollers

    2. Separator pad

  4. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

  5. Close the ADF cover tightly at both ends.
