Hi @S3111, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2800 series printer might have the wrong paper size settings. Here are a few things to check and try:

Check Printer Preferences in Windows

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on your HP DeskJet 2800 printer and select Printing preferences.
  3. Under the Paper/Quality or Advanced tab, ensure the Paper Size is set to Letter (8.5 x 11 inches).
  4. Click Apply, then OK.

Check Printer Settings in HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your PC.
  2. Select your Printer.
  3. Go to Print Settings and check if the paper size is set to Letter (8.5 x 11 inches).
  4. Save the settings.

Check Paper Size in Application (Word, PDF, etc.)

  • If you're printing from Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader, or any other app, check the Print Setup before printing.
  • Make sure the paper size is set correctly.

Check Default Print Settings

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on your printer and choose Printer Properties.
  3. Under the Advanced tab, click Printing Defaults.
  4. Ensure the Paper Size is set to Letter (8.5 x 11 inches).
  5. Click Apply, then OK.

Try a Test Print

  • Open Notepad.
  • Type some text and press Ctrl + P.
  • Select your printer and click Print.
  • See if it prints in the correct size.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Download the latest drivers from HP’s official website.
  2. Uninstall the printer from Device Manager.
  3. Reinstall using the updated driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
