Printer will not print a selected page range from MS Word, spools whole document

I am sorry to hear you are unable to print selected pages from Microsoft Word, however you are able to print the entire document. I would like to help with this issue. I would also like it if you could reply back to me with some more information so I can research this issue a little more in-depth for you.

- Are you able to successfully print selected pages in any other program besides Microsoft Word?

- Are you able to successfully print selected pages when you are printing from a different document within Microsoft Word?

- Are you able to successfully make a copy from your Officejet 8600?

- Which OS are you running? Windows OS

- Which Version of Microsoft Word are you running?

*In the meantime, you can run HP's Print and Scan Doctor to search and fix common printer problems.

The printer prints from e-mail okay.  All word documents do not act the same.  These documents have a 'header' and a 'footer', but removal made no difference.   I can make copies on printer.  Using Windows 7.  Word 2010

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate the information. The printer itself seems to sound like it is functioning correctly.

The issue seems to be within the Microsoft Word 2010 software. I have looked into the issue and I first suggest re-saving your Word document and trying to print selected pages again. I have also found a Fix It tool that is suggested for printing issues within Word. I will post you the link below, run the tool and it should correct the issue.

If those steps do not resolve the issue, I lastly recommend uninstalling and reinstalling your Microsoft Word/Office 2010 if you still have the installation CD's.

I'm having the same problem with not being able to print a selected page range. Windows Home Premium 7, and a just-purchased HP Laserjet pro 400 M401dne.  I've tried doing the Fixit you recommended and no problems were found, and resaving the document under another name, but it happens with all Word documents.  I've restarted, reinstalled drivers, and everything else I can think of. Can you help, please?  Thanks.  I don't think it's the printer, but the problem just started when I installed my new printer.
