Hp envy photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In looking at some of the other posts related to this problem, I found no good answer so I thought I would provide one. To remove the printer tray on any of the Envy series printers you can follow these steps:

  • Remove the printer cartridges
  • Disconnect all the cables
  • Remove the output tray
  • Tip the printer up on its side
  • Turn the printer so the bottom is facing you
  • Slide the paper tray as far as it will go out and you will find that there are two small tabs toward the front of the printer that are stopping it from going further.
  • Slightly flex those two tabs toward you away from the paper tray and while doing so the paper tray can slide out.

To remove the photo tray from the paper tray:

  • Lay the paper tray in front of you as it would be in the printer.
  • Slide the photo tray away from you toward the back of the paper tray
  • On the right hand side of the photo tray you will note three tabs. Near the second tab you will find a thin edge of plastic on the paper tray which can be flexed outward16532522955013818378272161248810.jpg

(My finger is on that point in the photo). While flexing that portion outward, lift on the photo tray while sliding it toward you, and it will come free.

To reassemble:

  • Lay the left edge in the groove on the left hand side
  • Pivot the right edge down flat against the paper tray
  • While the photo tray is laying flat in the paper tray slide it forward and back a couple of times with a slide amount of pressure downward and it should fall into place. If it doesn't, simply flex that same point that you flexed outward earlier while sliding the tray and it will drop into place.
  • To replace the paper tray in the printer, slide it back in and flex those two tabs toward you again as you push the paper tray into the printer.
