Hi @Gadmoshe,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a paper jam in the output bin of the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw that doesn't actually have any visible paper can be frustrating.

Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue and replace the roller if necessary:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Paper Jam in Output Bin

Turn off the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Check All Accessible Areas:

  • Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge.
  • Inspect the paper path, particularly the areas leading to the output bin, for any small pieces of paper or debris.

Check the Output Bin and Rear Door:

  • Open the output bin and check for any hidden paper.
  • Open the rear door and check for paper jammed in the fuser area.

Rotate the Rollers Manually:

  • Gently rotate the rollers manually to see if any paper is stuck that is not visible.

Use the Control Panel Diagnostics:

  • Turn on the printer and use the control panel to navigate to maintenance or troubleshooting options. Run any available diagnostics for paper handling.

If you need to replace the rollers, follow these steps:

Purchase Replacement Rollers:

  • Ensure you have the correct replacement rollers for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw.

Prepare the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Remove the Paper Tray:

  • Remove the paper tray to access the rollers inside the tray area.

Locate the Rollers:

  • The pickup roller and separation roller are usually located in the paper input area.

Remove the Rollers:

  • For most models, the rollers can be removed by pressing a tab or clip that holds them in place.
  • Carefully remove the old rollers.

Install the New Rollers:

  • Align the new rollers and snap them into place. Ensure they are securely installed.

Reassemble the Printer:

  • Reinsert the paper tray and toner cartridge.
  • Close any open doors and reconnect the power.

Test the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer and print a test page to ensure the rollers are working correctly and the paper jam error is resolved.

Additional Tips

  • Firmware Update: Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve persistent paper jam errors. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Clean the Rollers: If the rollers are not worn out, cleaning them with a lint-free cloth and a bit of water can sometimes resolve feeding issues.
