Hi @Silas04

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry your HP OfficeJet 9015e’s print carriage isn’t moving—that kind of mechanical freeze can be deeply frustrating, especially when nothing seems to be physically blocking it.

Let’s walk through a few precise steps to help release the carriage and restore smooth operation.

Steps to Fix a Stuck Print Carriage on HP OfficeJet 9015e

1. Power Reset the Printer

This clears internal signals and may release the carriage.

  • Turn off the printer using the power button
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wall outlet
  • Wait 60 seconds
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors)
  • Turn the printer back on and listen for carriage movement

2. Open the Ink Access Door

  • Lift the ink cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to attempt movement
  • If it remains stuck, gently try to slide it left or right—do not force it
  • Check for any small pieces of paper, packaging tape, or debris near the carriage path

3. Check for Obstructions Along the Carriage Path

Even invisible obstructions like dried ink or misaligned gears can block movement.

  • Use a flashlight to inspect the left and right ends of the carriage track
  • Look for any ink buildup, paper fragments, or loose plastic
  • If found, gently remove with a lint-free cloth or tweezers

4. Reset the Printer Mechanism

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Reconnect the power cord and press the power button to turn it on
  • This forces a hardware-level reset and may release the carriage

5. Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause mechanical miscommunication.

Let me know if you'd like help checking your firmware version or confirming the carriage position. Once these steps are complete, your printer should resume normal movement and be ready to print again.
