HP ENVY Inspire 7900e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to print 5x7 cardstock from Word.  Have loaded the paper into the upper tray, but it will not feed.  I also tried the lower try, but that didn't work either.  The message I get is to load HP photo paper.  Tried changing the paper type to HP matte photo paper, but that did not help.  Not sure what else to try.

Welcome to the HP Community --

The printer does not list "card stock" paper as a supported Type.

  • The printer media specifications do NOT include a "Card" paper in the specifications (200 gsm)
  • The printer does include support for HP Brochure Matte / HP Professional paper at 180 gsm.
  • The printer does include support for HP Photo and other high grade photo paper at 300 gsm.

For example,

You might be able to select / use Paper Type  Other Matte Inkjet Papers

  • Check supported media specifications
  • Load Paper
  • Alert the printer to the Paper Size / Type - Tray and Paper
  • As best can be done, match the paper size / type in the app / software used to configure and submit the print job

Where you load the paper depends on whether your paper size is allowed / supported in the Photo Tray and / or in the Main paper tray.

Some printers only support 4x6 inch paper in the photo tray.

If you are unsure, Check the EWS settings for Tray and Paper (next section)
