LaserJet Pro M202dw

The LaserJet Pro M202dw printer has an issue where it takes print tilted or slanted, sometimes grabbing 2-3 sheets at once, and occasionally gets stuck mid-process. It seems to be a problem with the gripper, particularly with the alignment or condition of the side holders. We need a guide to address this issue or a service provider who can assist. If you can send someone to check it or if we can send the printer to you, we’re willing to pay the required visiting or inspection fee. This printer is out of warranty, but we are ready to bear any repair or part replacement costs.

We also have another printer, an older model (LaserJet MFP M436n), which makes a lot of noise during printing. We’d like to have that checked during the same visit and will discuss the expenses involved.

@Al09, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP LaserJet Pro M202dw Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet Pro M202dw printer is experiencing common paper feed issues. Here are some steps you can take to address these problems:

1. Check Paper Alignment and Guides

  • Remove all paper from the input tray.
  • Fan the paper stack to ensure no sheets are stuck together.
  • Remove any damaged paper.
  • Reinsert the paper ensuring it is properly aligned and the guides are set to the correct position.

Guides should never be too tight or too loose against the paper.

2. Inspect and Clean the Roller

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the input tray and locate the rollers.
  • Inspect the rollers for wear or damage.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol to clean the rollers. Avoid spraying or spilling liquids directly into the printer.

3. Adjust Paper Settings

  • Ensure the paper type and size settings in the printer driver match the loaded paper.
  • From your computer, access the printer settings and verify that the correct paper type is selected.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the outlet.
  • Wait about 30 seconds and reconnect the power cord, then turn on the printer.

5. Paper Orientation

  • Ensure the paper loaded is facing the proper direction as specified by the manufacturer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
