Hi @Lanerino,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

A blinking yellow E4 lights up when the printer detects a paper jam, even if there’s no visible jam. Let’s clear this together so you can get back to printing without the headache.

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. Unplug the printer’s power cord from both the outlet and the device.
  2. Wait a full 60 seconds, letting the printer fully discharge.
  3. Plug it back directly into a wall outlet and power on.
This simple reset often clears false error states.

Step 2: Check Common Jam Zones

E4 warnings can result from actual or invisible obstructions; thorough inspection helps.

a) Input Tray

  • Remove all paper and open the tray door.
  • Shine light to check for debris or scraps and gently clear them.

b) Output Tray

  • Lift or open the output area.
  • Look for stuck/torn paper, dust, or other objects. Remove anything found.

c) Carriage & Rear Areas

  • Open the access panel to the ink carriage. Inspect carefully for stray bits of paper.
  • Flip the printer and open the rear cleanout door (if available). Remove any material, and close firmly.

Step 3: Clean Rollers

  • Use a soft, lint‑free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Gently rotate the paper-feed and output rollers to wipe off dust or residue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
