@JOSH356, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing and Paper Jam Issues with HP OfficeJet Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet printer is experiencing issues such as cutting off the top of print jobs, leaving black roller marks on the back of pages, and reporting paper jams even when there seems to be none, you can follow this comprehensive troubleshooting guide:

Addressing Print Quality Issues

Black Roller Lines on the Back of Pages:

  • Clean the Printer: Clean the rollers and the inside of the printer with a dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners on or around the printer.
  • Check Paper Type: Ensure the paper type selected in your printer settings matches the paper loaded in the printer.

Cutting Off Top of Print Jobs:

  • Check Paper Size and Orientation: Make sure the paper size and orientation settings in the printer software match your document settings.
  • Print Quality Settings: Check your print quality settings. A higher quality setting can sometimes help resolve issues with print layout.

Solving Paper Jam Issues

Clear Paper Jam Messages:

  • Check for Jammed Paper: Even when it doesn’t look jammed, small pieces might be stuck in the printer. Check areas like the top cover, paper trays, and the inside around the rollers.
  • Feed the Paper Properly: Ensure the paper is properly aligned and loaded in the tray. It should be under the tabs and not overfilled.
  • Inspect Sensors: Make sure the paper sensors aren't obstructed or dirty, as this can mistakenly trigger jam alerts.

Routine Maintenance:

  • Perform Regular Cleaning: Clean any loose toner or debris inside the printer to prevent obstructions. Use the printer's built-in cleaning page feature as available.
  • Update Printer Software/Firmware: Ensure all printer drivers and firmware are up-to-date to avoid potential software bugs affecting performance.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
