Hi @doncornue,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Clear Jammed Envelope from the Paper Input Area:

  • Open the input tray.
  • Remove any loose envelopes from the tray.
  • Use a flashlight to check for and remove any jammed envelope pieces. To avoid tearing, pull the envelope with both hands.

Clear Jammed Envelope from the Output Tray:

  • Open the output tray.
  • Gently pull the jammed envelope or pieces out of the tray.
  • Use a flashlight to check for any remaining pieces.

Clear Jammed Envelope from the Ink Cartridge Access Area:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Gently slide the carriage to the side if necessary.
  • Remove any jammed envelope pieces from inside the printer.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.

Check the Paper Path:

  • If the envelope is still jammed, check the paper path underneath the printer.
  • Turn the printer so that you can access its underside (base).
  • Open the cleanout door and remove any jammed envelope pieces found inside.
  • Close the cleanout door and turn the printer back to its normal position.

Reconnect the Power Cord:

  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Checking for Proper Envelope Loading:

Ensure that the envelope is loaded correctly in the input tray:

  • Insert the envelopes with the print side facing up and the flaps facing left.
  • Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of the envelopes snugly without bending them.

I hope this helps.
