HP Office Jet Pro 9018 All-in-One Product No. 3UK84A... The printer screen reads the following...
"The original is jammed in the document feeder. Open the cover, remove an reload the original, and then try again."
This is a false warning, there is nothing in the paper feeder...any suggestions...I've tried all the power off/reset option offered in the online help...still get the same error message.
Thank you

Hi @MikeDietv
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 is displaying a false "jammed in the document feeder" message, here are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check for Obstructions
- Carefully inspect the document feeder for any small bits of paper or foreign objects that may not be immediately visible. Look around the rollers and inside the feeder.
2. Clean the Document Feeder
- Dust or debris on the rollers can sometimes cause misdetections. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the rollers in the document feeder.
3. Reset the Printer
- Power off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset any temporary errors.
4. Check the Document Feeder Sensor
- Sometimes, the sensors that detect paper in the feeder can be obstructed or malfunctioning. Look for any dust or debris near the sensor area and gently clean it.
5. Update Firmware
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check the HP Support website for any available updates for your printer model.
6. Perform a Partial Reset
- You can perform a partial reset on the printer:
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the printer.
7. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor
- This tool can help diagnose and fix various printing issues. You can download it from the HP support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
