HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm getting a false error message about a paper jam in the document feeder. The printer literally was printing the night before and then in the morning it wouldn't work. In fact, I hardly ever use this feeder, but I had cleaned it a couple of weeks ago when it began acting up. But then I used the feeder for a very few pages, and I printed and scanned a lot over a couple of weeks.

Now with this new message, I've cleaned it twice and restarted it per instructions.

I know my printer is long out of warranty and I would not be totally averse to replacing it. But it really doesn't make much sense that this feeder prevents the rest of the printer from working. Also I've got over $200 worth of HP ink sitting here and, in fact, the cartridges inside the machine are far from empty. In the short run, can I please please please disable  the feeder? What can I do?
