Hi @Sandy692,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP DeskJet 4252e is printing blank pages, even though you're using HP Smart and free ink service, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges are not empty. You can check the ink levels through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.
Verify Ink Cartridge Installation: Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinsert them, ensuring they click into place.
Perform a Printhead Cleaning:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Go to the “Printer Maintenance” or “Tools” section.
- Select “Clean Printhead” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Print a Diagnostic Page:
- From the HP Smart app, look for an option to print a diagnostic page or test page. This can help determine if the issue is with the printhead or ink cartridges.
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. Check for updates through the HP Smart app or on the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Check for Paper Jams: Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that might affect printing.
Replace Ink Cartridges: If the ink cartridges are old or damaged, consider replacing them with new, genuine HP cartridges.
Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and the computer can resolve printing issues.

I hope this helps.
