My printer won't grab the paper. I wanted to print a two page document. It printed the first page but would not print the second page. I tried several times to only print the second page, but the printer will not grab the paper. Thank you

Hi @LindaP10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3630 printer is not grabbing paper, it may be due to a paper feed issue or an obstruction in the paper path. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this problem.

Check the Paper:

  • Ensure the paper is correctly loaded in the input tray and not curled, damp, or damaged.
  • Remove the stack of paper, fan it to separate any stuck sheets, and reload it.
  • Adjust the paper width guides to fit snugly against the paper without bending it.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Check for any debris, jammed paper, or foreign objects in the input and output trays.
  • If found, carefully remove it.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • Over time, dust or residue can accumulate on the rollers.
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the printer to access the rollers.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  4. Rotate the rollers manually to clean them thoroughly.
  5. Allow the rollers to dry before reconnecting the printer.

Check the Paper Settings:

  • Ensure the paper size and type settings in the print job match the paper in the tray.
  • Incorrect settings can prevent the printer from grabbing the paper.

Perform a Reset:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Retry printing the second page.

Test with Different Paper:

  • Load a different batch of plain, unused paper to rule out a paper quality issue.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. Download the latest drivers for your printer from the HP Support website.

Perform a Printer Diagnostic:

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows) or HP Smart App (Mac/Windows) to diagnose and fix issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
