HP laser jet pro mfp 3301

Every several pages (let's say if I send 10 pages to print, after the second or third sheet), it jams. There is no actual page caught, but I have to clear it on the screen, then it picks up again where it left off printing. And this keeps happening every 1 or 2 pages.

Hi @dotsmithtx

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for describing the issue so clearly—it sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with repeated false jams mid-print. Let’s walk through a few precise steps to help your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301 print smoothly again.

1. Gently Check All Paper Paths

Even if no sheet is visibly stuck, tiny fragments or misfeeds can trigger jam sensors:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the main input tray, rear access door, and toner access panel.
  • Carefully inspect and remove any small scraps or curled edges.
  • Use a flashlight to check deep inside the paper path and rollers.

2. Fan and Reload the Paper Stack

Paper friction or static can cause misfeeds:

  • Remove all paper from the tray.
  • Fan the stack thoroughly to separate sheets.
  • Ensure the paper is clean, dry, and not curled or bent.
  • Reload it snugly against the guides—don’t overfill.

3. Clean the Pickup Rollers

Dust or wear on rollers can cause intermittent feed issues:

  • Open the input tray and locate the gray rubber pickup roller.
  • Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
  • Gently wipe the roller while rotating it manually.
  • Let it dry for 10 minutes before printing again.

4. Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can sometimes misinterpret sensor feedback:

5. Run Internal Cleaning Page

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Service > Cleaning Page.
  • This helps clear toner buildup or debris that might affect sensors.

If the issue continues after these steps, I’d be glad to help you explore advanced diagnostics or isolate whether it’s media-related. Let me know what type of paper you’re using (weight, brand, size), and I can tailor the advice further.
