Hi @erinic,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the paper jam in your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Clear Paper Jam from Rear Access:

  • Wait for the printer to cool down before handling.
  • Remove any paper from the input tray.
  • Gently pull out the jammed paper from the rear access area of the printer.
  • Ensure no torn pieces of paper are left inside the printer.

Clear Paper Jam from Front Access:

  • Open the front cover of the printer.
  • Carefully pull out the jammed paper or any debris from the printer path.
  • Ensure the paper path is clear.

Turn Off Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.

Remove Rear Access Panel:

  • Look for the rear access panel at the back of the printer.
  • Press the tab on the left side of the panel and pull it away from the printer.

Clear Paper and Debris:

  • Gently pull the jammed paper out of the printer.
  • Ensure there are no pieces of torn paper left inside the printer.
  • Check the rollers for any debris and clean them with a lint-free cloth.

Reinstall Rear Access Panel:

  • Align the rear access panel with the printer and push it back into place until it clicks.

Clear Front Access:

  • Open the front access door and remove any visible jammed paper.
  • Ensure the paper path is clear from front to back.

Reconnect and Test:

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  • Load paper into the input tray and attempt to print a test page.

Preventing Future Paper Jams

  • Use High-Quality Paper: Ensure using paper that is compatible with your printer specifications.
  • Load Paper Properly: Do not overload the input tray, and ensure the guides lightly rest against the edges of the paper.
  • Regular Maintenance: Periodically clean the rollers and paper feed mechanisms.

I hope this helps.
