Hi @sharon269,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To fix a paper jam on your HP printer, follow these steps carefully to avoid damaging the printer:

Step-by-Step Guide to Clear a Paper Jam

1. Turn Off the Printer

  • Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back.

2. Remove Jammed Paper from Input Tray

  • Gently pull out any loose paper from the input tray.
  • Avoid tearing the paper—use both hands to pull evenly.

3. Open the Access Doors

  • Open the ink cartridge access door or rear access door (depending on your model).
  • Look for jammed paper inside and gently remove it.

4. Check the Output Tray

  • Remove any paper stuck in the output tray or rollers.

5. Check the Duplexer (if available)

  • If your printer has a duplexer, remove it and check for paper inside.

6. Inspect the Paper Path

  • Use a flashlight to check for small bits of paper or debris inside the paper path.
  • Remove any fragments carefully.

7. Reconnect and Test

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing a test page.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
