Hi @MightyMo1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e is having trouble picking up the A3 paper from the bottom tray. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Paper Size Settings:

  • Make sure that the printer settings on your computer are set to A3 paper size. If the paper size is mismatched between the printer and the computer, it could cause a paper jam error.

Verify Paper Placement:

  • Ensure the A3 paper is properly aligned in the bottom tray. For A3 paper, the paper guides need to be adjusted to fit the size correctly.
  • Avoid overloading the paper tray and ensure the paper is not curled or folded.

Clear Any Paper Debris:

  • Open the printer's paper path and check for any small pieces of paper or debris that may be blocking the feed rollers. Gently remove anything you find.

Check for Paper Feed Rollers:

  • The rollers that feed paper into the printer may need cleaning. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the rollers. This helps ensure they grab the paper properly.

Check for Jam Messages:

  • If you continue seeing a "paper jam" message, follow the printer's display to locate the jam. Sometimes jams can occur inside the rear panel or other areas, which can be difficult to see.

Perform a Reset:

  • Try restarting the printer to clear any temporary glitches that may be causing the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
