Printer jams and feed issues

Hi @5108932772

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printer paper jams and feed issues can be really frustrating, but most of the time, they can be resolved with a few troubleshooting steps. Here's a guide to help you fix the paper jam and feed problems with your HP printer:

1. Turn Off the Printer and Unplug It

  • Before trying to clear the jam, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will keep you safe while working with the printer and prevent any further issues.

2. Remove Any Jammed Paper

  • Open the printer’s paper tray and check for any stuck paper.
  • If you see any paper jammed in the paper path, gently pull the paper out in the direction the paper normally feeds (usually towards the back of the printer).
  • Be careful not to tear the paper, as small pieces could get stuck inside and cause more problems.

3. Check for Paper in Other Areas

  • Check the rear access panel (if your printer has one). Sometimes paper can get jammed in this part of the printer. Open the rear panel and carefully pull out any stuck paper.
  • Check the paper feed rollers: Sometimes paper can get stuck around the rollers that feed the paper into the printer. Clean the rollers gently using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to ensure they are free from dust and paper debris.

4. Check the Paper Tray

  • Align the paper correctly in the paper tray. Make sure the paper is stacked properly and not too high or misaligned. The paper should be straight, and the paper guides should lightly touch the edges of the paper.
  • Ensure you’re using the right type of paper for your printer. Too thick or too thin paper, or paper that’s curled or damaged, can cause feed issues.

5. Inspect the Printer's Feed Rollers

  • Over time, feed rollers may get dirty or worn out. If you notice a paper feed issue happening frequently, gently clean the rollers using a damp cloth. Don’t use anything abrasive, as it could damage the rollers.
  • If the rollers appear worn or damaged, they may need to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @CHIPANISE

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a paper jam in your printer, and the paper has torn, which makes it a bit trickier. Here’s what you can do to try to fix it:

Turn off the printer: Always power off the printer before trying to fix a jam to avoid damaging the printer or getting hurt.

Open all paper access doors: You've already tried opening the doors, but make sure you've opened every possible access point, including the back panel or rear paper tray if your printer has one.

Locate the torn paper: Even though the paper is torn, you should still be able to find the remnants in the printer. Look carefully inside the printer, and feel around gently to check if there’s any torn piece stuck inside the rollers or other parts.

Use tweezers or needle-nose pliers: If you can't see the torn paper but suspect it’s stuck somewhere out of sight, use tweezers or pliers to carefully reach into the printer and pull out any visible pieces of the torn paper. Be gentle to avoid damaging the printer.

Check the rollers: The rollers inside the printer might have pieces of paper stuck in them. If you see anything, carefully remove it.

Double-check for any small pieces: Sometimes small pieces of torn paper can get stuck, and the printer may still think there's a jam. Make sure you’ve removed all tiny pieces.

Try printing again: Once you’ve cleared out all the torn paper, close all the doors and power the printer back on. Try printing again to see if the error clears up.

I hope this helps.
