Hi @momdans,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When dealing with a paper jam that results in the cartridge not sliding in or the cover not closing on your HP LaserJet Pro 3001dwe printer, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source to avoid any electrical hazards.

Remove All Paper Jammed in the Printer:

  • Carefully open the printer and look for any pieces of paper or debris that might still be inside. Ensure that you remove all the paper jammed in the printer, including small pieces that might be stuck in rollers or other parts.

Inspect the Cartridge Area:

  • Open the cartridge access door and inspect the area where the cartridge slides in. Make sure there are no obstructions, such as pieces of paper, that might be blocking the cartridge.

Reposition the Cartridge:

  • If the cartridge is out of place or not properly seated, gently reposition it. Make sure it is aligned correctly with the guide rails and try to slide it into place without forcing it.

Check for Obstructions in the Cover Mechanism:

  • Inspect the cover and the mechanism that allows it to close. Make sure there are no obstructions or misaligned parts that might prevent the cover from closing properly.

Reset the Printer:

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Sometimes, resetting the printer can help resolve issues with the cartridge and cover mechanisms.

Additional Tips:

  • Use Proper Paper Handling: Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer to avoid jams in the future.
  • Regular Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on your printer, such as cleaning the rollers and other parts, to prevent paper jams and other issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
