ENVY 7640 printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

The screen on my all-in-one ENVY 7640 printer (circa 2017) will display the "Paper Jammed" error message, and so I cannot print or copy anything. Scan seems to work fine since it doesn't require printing. I have tried taking apart the whole thing, removing all paper, and it appears that NOTHING is jammed. I've read so many articles about trying to fix a paper jam, but I really do not think it's that. I am wondering why this error message would display incorrectly and how to fix it. Any thoughts? Anyone else experience this issue?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Also, try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Let me know if this helps.

No, this was not helpful. I had already tried all of these options. The firmware is already updated to the most current; I have automatic updates turned on.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
