Hi @Doug1Davis,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The issues you're experiencing with two-sided printing on your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-In-One printer, where the back page feeds in straight but comes out crumpled and slanted, are likely due to problems with the paper feed mechanism or the duplex unit. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially resolve these issues:

1. Check the Paper Quality and Type

Use Recommended Paper:

  • Ensure you are using the recommended paper type and size for your printer.
  • Avoid using wrinkled, folded, or damaged paper.

Proper Loading:

  • Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray. The paper guides should be snug against the paper without bending it.

2. Inspect and Clean the Paper Path

Remove Jammed Paper:

  • If there is any jammed paper, carefully remove it from the printer. Open the rear access door or duplexer to check for any obstructions.

Clean Paper Path and Rollers:

  • Use a lint-free cloth moistened with water to clean the paper rollers. Ensure there is no dust, debris, or ink build-up on the rollers.

3. Check the Duplex Unit

Inspect the Duplexer:

  • Open the duplexer (if your printer has one) and check for any jammed paper or debris. Make sure it is properly installed and seated.

Clean the Duplexer:

  • Clean any rollers or moving parts in the duplexer to ensure smooth paper handling.

Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Doug1Davis,

Please find the next set of steps below.

4. Check Printer Settings

Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the print settings on your computer are correctly configured for double-sided printing. In the print dialog box, select the appropriate settings for two-sided printing.

HP Smart App:

  • Check the settings in the HP Smart app to make sure double-sided printing is enabled and configured correctly.

5. Perform a Printer Reset

Turn Off and Unplug:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.

Power On:

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Try printing a two-sided document to see if the issue is resolved.

6. Update Firmware and Drivers

Firmware Update:

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for any firmware updates for your printer. Installing the latest firmware can resolve many issues.

Driver Update:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
