HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Reinstalled software & drivers for 1 year old 8710 printer, believing the original installation may not have been completed properly.  Mobile Apple devices currently show this printer & successfully print.  All of the sudden, however, the desktop PC - "HP TouchSmart 520" only shows the "8710 Fax - Officejet Pro" along with other printers in network (but not the 8710).  Appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Hi @StLMike919

Can you try this:

Removing Software and reinstalling

Go to Control Panel, under ‘Program and Features’, look for the HP SW and click uninstall.

To remove print drivers, you can go to ‘Devices and Printers’, look for the printer that is installed.

Right-click on the printer icon, and select ‘Remove device’.  This step should remove the printer.

To ensure that the print driver is indeed uninstalled, on the same screen, click on any other printer icon, and select ‘Print server properties’.

Go to ‘Drivers’ tab, and see if you find the printer model name. If it exists, select it, and click ‘Remove’.

This should remove the print driver.

After that, reinstall the FULL feature software.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you go to Control Panel > View Devices and Printers > Right click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 and select  "Set as Default Printer?  (do not select the one with the Fax)

Hope that helps!

Thanks for advice.  Unfortunately, "Set as Default" does not appears in menu when I did this.  The fax 8710 machine does provide option for set as default, as does another printer in the house.  The "Status" of the 8710 printer itself indicates "Drive is unavailable", even though I had 2X downloaded & installed the software + drivers from the HP support site.  Might I have corrupted software?

Perfect instructions greenturtle.  Thanks very much for the info.  Did not realize the old software & driver removal process was multiple steps.  I needed to perform them all to complete things.  Software & drivers are now successfully installed.
