@KASHIF46, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your fingerprint sensor is not working on your HP laptop running Windows 10 (64-bit). Let’s go through some steps to identify and resolve the issue.
Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Biometric Devices or Human Interface Devices.
- Look for your fingerprint sensor (e.g., Validity Sensor, Synaptics, or Goodix).
- If it has a yellow triangle or is missing, there may be a driver issue.
Update or Reinstall the Fingerprint Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the fingerprint device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If that doesn’t help, uninstall the device:
- Right-click > Uninstall device > Restart your laptop.
- Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
Alternatively, download the latest driver from HP:
- Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads
- Enter your laptop model and select your OS.
- Download and install the Fingerprint Sensor or Biometric driver.
Enable Fingerprint Sign-In
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Under Windows Hello Fingerprint, click Set up or Remove and re-add if already set.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to register your fingerprint.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Use HP’s built-in tool to test the fingerprint sensor:
- Download and run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
- Select Component Tests > Input Devices > Fingerprint Reader Test
Clean the Sensor
Sometimes, dirt or oil can interfere with the sensor. Gently clean it with a soft, dry cloth.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
