@v129, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The Error 301 you're seeing is a SMART Hard Disk Error, which typically indicates that your laptop's hard drive is predicting a potential failure.

Here's what you can do:

Back Up Your Data Immediately

Even if the laptop is still working, this error suggests the hard drive may fail soon. Please back up all important files to an external drive or cloud storage.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

You can run a hard disk test to confirm the issue:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (about once every second).
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Go to Component Tests > Storage > Quick Test.
  5. If the Quick Test passes but issues persist, run the Extensive Test.

If the issue persists, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
