Essentially what's in the title. I was gifted a printer by an elderly acquaintance that should probably be factory reset, and her Instant Ink account should be canceled as she's obviously not using the printer in my possession, preferably without her major inconvenience. A quick google search did not illuminate if I factory reset the printer if I also need setup ink cartridges, which I do not possess. I do not wish to set up an Instant Ink account and will be paying out the wazoo for ink cartridges without SaaS attached to them.

So, my question has like 3 parts to it:
1. Can I factory reset the printer without setup cartridges?
2. Can I get an assist on cancelling that Instant Ink Account
3. Can you point me to the documentation for setting up a printer without an Instant Ink account, possibly also linking how to return instant ink cartridges that may still be installed in the printer at the moment.

Many thanks to the HP support community in advance.

@vannoyaa, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

Yes, we can reset the printer to its factory settings without setup ink cartridges. However, there are different types of reset.

Are you getting a message to use setup ink cartridges? If so, we have to perform an OOB reset.

If you only want to delete all the settings on the printer, we will have to perform a semi-full reset.

The Instant Ink account has to be canceled by the previous owner. He/she can log in to the Instant Ink account and cancel the subscription.

For assistance, refer to - Cancel Your HP Instant Ink Service

To know how to setup your printer, refer to - HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
