HP East Start
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Running HP Easy Start 13.4.8 on HP TE01 desktop running Windows 10 Home 21H1 OS build 19043.1237 with HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer on USB port.  After completing initial system setup, ran HP Easy Start to connect to printer.  Software finds HP Photosmart C6200 Series printer connected to USB port, but when continuing it hangs on screen displaying "checking your software needs...".   Have run this several times after multiple restarts, and also ran with HP Easy Start 13.0.6 and got the same behavior.

Hi @MikeStanton,

HP Easy Start is intended for much later printers, it is not intended for such an older printer model.

For Windows 10, you may follow below steps to install the provided driver solution via Microsoft Update:

I get the same error, but my printer is an OfficeJet Pro 9015, which is a currently supported printer.  The webpak in question is HPEasyStart-13.0.6-OJP9010_49_9_4593_1_Webpack, which I just download from HP as the designated driver for this printer on Windows 11.

Hi @MHCLV,

Please follow the latest HP Easy Start utility below rather than the Full Software pack utility:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-...

Within the Software Selection screen be sure to select the HP Full Feature Software steps and complete the software installation.

This did work but exactly how was I supposed to know that only one of the two installation options for the 9010 series actually works?

I have an OJ 9010.  I want to use my scanner without logging into an HP account.  To accomplish this I believe I need to just install the scanner.   I did this with the easy care installation and it worked on one computer.  However, on my newer HP laptop this just hangs with the "Checking your software needs.."  as noted in this thread.  I then followed the instructions.

Please follow the latest HP Easy Start utility below rather than the Full Software pack utility:

Within the Software Selection screen be sure to select the HP Full Feature Software steps and complete the software installation.

This time I get to the menu screen where it asks me to setup a new printer through wired or wireless and no matter what I select the screen just disappears.  Note, I had already previously selected the OJ 9010 so I am not sure why it was asking to set up a printer.  Regardless, I am going around in circles trying to solve the scanner from my laptop issue.  I still cannot install the full feature software, complete an easy start installation, or use my scanner.  Both of these were purchased in the last six months so they are not out of date.

Hi,

Please try following below steps and check if that may help @Rick200 :

Reset Winsock settings to resolve any internal errors, and then restart your computer.
  1. Search Windows for Command prompt, right-click Command Prompt in the list of results, and then click Run as administrator.

  2. Type netsh winsock reset, and then press Enter.

  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Now click the HP Officejet Pro 9010 icon on your desktop, follow the steps on screen and check if you may see any difference.

If the same persists, type WINVER into the search bar and launch the shown program, what is the exact version listed for your computer? see below example with the version number highlighted:

I'm having the same problem.  Wouldn't it be easier, instead of resetting winsock to just make the drivers and software available again?  There is nothing easy about adding a layer of complexity to a system, especially one that has NO purpose.  Can you just send me a link to the 64 bit software for the HP Officejet 9010 please?

Having the same issue here with OfficeJet Pro 8020. Using HPEasyStart-12.1.03-OJP8020_49_8_4576_1_Full_Webpack or HPEasyStart_13_4_8  results in same error.

I have the same issue with an HP Envy 6000. Originally, I installed HP Smart via the Microsoft store and that functioned, but it would not accept print jobs from applications other than HP Smart. I saw that the printer was installed under Settings > Devices, but that device didn't have any drivers installed. Now, I have tried to install using HPEasyStart-12.8.9-EN6000_51_2_4771_1_Full_Webpack.exe, but it hangs on checking software needs.
