HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm repeating the same question someone else had a few months ago, but did not get an adequate answer.

My HP Envy 7855 printer will not go into sleep mode. I've tried the power button as well as the options in Power Management. When I press the power button, it does the countdown to go into sleep, goes blank as though it is in sleep, then come right back on. It is set to go to sleep in 5 minutes. Changing that time to a different time interval did not fix it. Have reset printer by disconnecting power multiple times and even did a factory reset and re-install of the printer.  And the firmware is up to date. The problem remains. Would welcome any suggestions for something else to try.

There are a couple of possibilities here.

If your printer is connected to the PC using WiFI direct. the PC may be trying to maintain the connection.  If you turn off the PC (or let the PC sleep) does the printer sleep after 5 minutes?

It is also possible the modem is sending "keep alive" signals to the printer.  Possibly the modem / router senses the printer losing connection and send a message to "keep it alive"

I recommend the printer connect to the router or modem and that it be assigned a fixed IP address.  Get a network report from the printer and then log into the modem. Find that IP address and make it a fixed address.  Let me know if you need help with this.

You might first install the latest drivers and firmware updates to your printer.

I did not list the firmware as you need to read the fine print and decide if you want it
