Hi, this app used to work fine and now it crashes every time I try to scan. I have deleted it, reinstalled etc, but always the same.

I see that the HP Smart app is not working properly. Did you download the app from the App Store?
Make sure the app is up to date.
Go to App Store to check for pending updates.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on Mac
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
If the issue persists, use HP Easy Scan app from the App Store to scan. Check if this helps.

Hi, I did everything you suggested and the app keeps crashing! It's completely useless and a huge waste of time. for trying to get work done. Any other suggestions please? I'm on a Mac with the latest Monteray software.

HP Smart was downloaded per printer instructions – has worked fine, until now stopped working. Mac and all apps are up to date. I tried to install firmware as you recommended but got error messages. App says printer firmware is up to date. App still does not work, crashes repeatedly. Have deleted and reinstalled. Doesn't work.

I understand the issue persists with the HP Smart app. Did you try reinstalling the app from the App Store as a last resort?
Did you try using the HP Easy Scan app as an alternative for the time being?

I was having the same issue. Tried all the recommended remedies with no luck.
I uninstalled the HP Smart app....used the HP Easy scan app (successfully) but couldn't change some settings. Once I reinstalled the HP Smart app it worked fine. Can't imagine what that managed to reset but back up and running with Smart scan.

I'm having the same issues and am using a MAC and no none of your solutions work and yes I tried 3 times removing the app and reinstalling. The driver updates are useless as your links do not take us anywhere to update any drivers. The support for MAC is ridiculous, this issue has been happening for months and there is nowhere online where I can see any fix options or anything from you that has anything to do with the issue.
