[I  am unable to get support from HP (HP support sites send me in circles and won't provide an HP phone number, a live chat, or even an email address.    Instead, HP sends me to  a "user community" to solve my HP issue.    It's like a car dealer sending me to other drivers if the car I bought from them won't run).

My Issue:   HP Print and Scan Doctor has been banned by HP.  They tell us to use HP Smart, instead.    I can't.  HP Smart won't detect my  HP LasetJet 1020 printer (attached via USB).     And I can't  manually add it as one of my printers.

(I used  Microsoft Win 11 software on my HP laptop to install the driver, since HP software was unable to install it).   So I can use the 1020 to print.

When I log into HP.com, that software does list my two HP laptops and my HP printers, including the LaserJet 1020, so stymied why HP "NotSoSmart" software won't recognize my HP 1020.

If your printer is out of warranty, the avenue you must follow to receive telephone support is to subscribe to HP's Smart Friend service.
